Battle Mountain
This house was designed to feel like a simple pavilion in the woods. Internal walls are minimal and the windows are maximized, giving the house tons of natural light. The extensive use of slightly oversized stained wood trim combined with wood floors enhances the feeling of being in a clearing in the woods. Wood clad columns form an alley in the spine of the house and a carved and stained wooden staircase rises through the center, reinforcing that “tree house” semblance. The views are spectacular to the south, east, and west, and are easily accessed by stepping out onto one of the many porches or even by simply looking out a window. The tree covered mountain rising behind the house provides an excellent example of Kreyling Construction’s ability to fit a house into its environment through skillful siting.

Herbert Foster House
Originally built around 1910, this home sits prominently on the crest of a hill overlooking the town of Flint Hill, farmland in all directions, and to the west, the Blue Ridge Mountains. It was the Foster family homestead until the current owners purchased it in the late 1990’s.
Kreyling Construction added an entry, family room/dining room, and a three car garage.
The original section was completely remodeled. The oak trim had never been painted and restored beautifully.

Sunnyside "Granniwinkle"
This project entailed the renovation of a building that was originally slave quarters. We found the building untouched for over 150 years. The only improvement that had been made during this time period was the addition of a lone light bulb in the ceiling.

As you can see from the "before" and "after" pictures, the building went through a dramatic transformation.

Sunnyside Cabin
A derelict building originally scheduled for demolition was found to have an 1800's vintage log cabin beneath dilapidated siding. Kreyling Construction designed an addition and completely renovated the cabin. Now serving as a guest house, this project is a company favorite for the charm and coziness it embodies.

Sunnyside Main House
This was our first project for Sunnyside Farms, which had been owned by one family for almost 250 years before the current owner purchased it.

The original farmhouse was in poor condition, having suffered from "deferred maintentance" for years.

Sunnyside Wine Cellar
The unchanged exterior of an old stone smoke house belies the polished wine cellar concealed within. Five inches of urethane foam and a conditioning system keep the room at a constant 55 degrees Fahrenheit.

Thermopylae
Pre-Civil war home in the foothills of the Blue Ridge.

Zamira
This home is located in the Piedmont District of Rappahannock County, Virginia. It was completed in 2003 and consists of a main house, guest house, detached garage and inground pool.

The client wanted to have the feeling of being outside even while inside. Therefore, French patio doors are along the southern exposure giving the client spectacular sunsets over the Blue Ridge.
